Please door stay open!!

With so many self-closing doors in our B&B, I was so tired of using those horrible rubber door wedges when 'in & out' of the bedrooms with either tidying or stripping the beds. So decided OK will try my first fabric doorstop, wasn't too sure where to start however remembered looking through one of my recent buys - 'Free & Easy Stitch Style' by Poppy Treffry Her book is really inspiring with great pictures - highly recommend it!!

Anyway here is my first attempt - need to make at least another 3 - I'm quite pleased with how it turned out however just decided to stitch the design on one side only. I know I was being lazy but was keen to get it finished.
Weighed down with rice (in a separate bag just in case of any spillage!!), I think I used nearly 2kg because our doors are so heavy. I haven't decided on the designs for the next ones but think each one will be different - how different not too sure at the moment.

Welcome to my blog!

Hello and welcome to my blog, My name is Sam and I'm a very keen crafter!! We (my husband and I) are so lucky to live in the beautiful Lake District where we own a small bed and breakfast, although small it keeps me very busy.

I'm a Geordie lass originally from Whitley Bay, a seaside town in the North East of England, about 8 miles East of Newcastle upon Tyne. In 2001 we decided we wanted to move to the Lake District and try our hands at running a B&B, after many viewings we found our lovely home/B&B in Windermere and in July 2001 this became the 'Briardene Guest House'.

I have been crafting for many years and more so with having the B&B, at home all day it is so easy to head straight to my craft room - how lucky I am I do have to pinch myself sometimes! (mind you this is after all the breakfasts have been served and beds stripped!!). It is only recently I've joined Facebook and through this found an amazing crafting community out there and realised this was an excellent opportunity for me to start selling my creations on-line.

So I am still at the learning stages of blogging so please bear with me, I'm also trying to design my website mmmmm easier said than done - this is normally down to my brother who looks after our B&B's website - but thought I would give it ago!!!
Anyway time to sign off. Bye bye for now Sam.
